Exclusive Interview with Gabriel Medina Boticário: *“From pressure, strength is born.” Do you believe that facing and overcoming challenges, such as your recent injury, builds your determination and makes you come back even stronger to competitions?Gabriel Medina: “Everything we go through in life teaches us something, and defeats and difficulties teach us even more. I’ve always embraced that mindset as an athlete and try to carry it into my personal life as well. Every obstacle that appears only motivates me even more to overcome it.” Boticário: How do you handle pressure in your daily life? Do you consider yourself a resilient person? What advice would you give to our readers for dealing with pressure and life’s challenges?Gabriel Medina: “I’ve had to deal with pressure from a very young age—it’s something I’m familiar with and it motivates me to keep improving. I love being under pressure because it challenges me and helps me grow. As I said earlier, pressure and difficulties are when we grow and develop the most.” Boticário: Let’s talk about the sea. Would you say that while it challenges you and pushes you to your limits, it’s also the place where you reconnect with yourself? What does the ocean mean to you?Gabriel Medina: “The ocean has taught me—and continues to teach me—a lot. It teaches respect, patience, dedication, and the importance of being fully present in what you’re doing. When I’m in the water, I don’t think about anything else but connecting with nature and living in the moment.” Boticário: Do you consider yourself a self-care enthusiast? Do you believe taking care of yourself is tied to well-being and expressing who you are?Gabriel Medina: “I enjoy taking care of myself and being in tune with who I am. I believe striving to be the best version of yourself in every aspect of life is what leads to success.” Boticário: What does your self-care routine look like? What habits and products are essential for you?Gabriel Medina: “Because of my sport, I’m always exposed to the sun, so skincare is essential for me—I use sunscreen every day. Beyond that, I follow a routine in the morning and before bed consisting of skincare and hair care.
